Are Gretsch Guitars and Vox Amplification the perfect match?

I personally have always found Vox amplification to be the best or one of the best options for Gretsch guitars, being a Gretsch player and a big fan of the vintage sound, I am always on the hunt for the clarity and twang of the 60’s tone. I find this combination works best for me! Vox amps have always been a big name when it comes to classic 60’s rock n roll and have been used by players such as George Harrison of The Beatles, Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones, and even Hank Marvin! This variation of artists really shows the versatility of Vox AC Amps as they can deliver anything from the gritty bite of the Stones to the pure cleanliness of The Shadows!

George Harrison being my main influence when it comes to guitar playing was extremely well known for using the combination of a Gretsch Country Gentleman through a Vox AC30 throughout their live shows and recordings, which is where the legendary and unmistakable sounds of Beatles hits lives! The Gretsch Filter’Tron pickups and Celestion Alnico speakers together produce a twang that I love! On plugging my Gretsch into the top boost channel of the Vox AC30 I also found that this combination is perfect for overdrive! This is where we start to discover sounds and tones from players and Vox users such as Brian May and Mark Knopfler. Whatever sound I need I can always rely on a Gretsch guitar and Vox AC valve amp just due to the extreme versatility of both of these products! We currently have Vox AC series amps in stock and available here at Rimmers Music in Bolton, Greater Manchester as well as our brand new professional Gretsch guitars which are absolutely stunning and just overall outstanding instruments to play… come and try them for yourself!
