Fender Eric Clapton Signature Stratocaster

This is the perfect addition to any Eric Clapton fans guitar collection, a complete replica of his famous ‘Blackie’ Stratocaster! Featured on legendary songs such as, ‘I Shot The Sheriff’, ‘Wonderful Tonight’, ‘Lay Down Sally’, and many more! ‘Blackie’ was used by Eric almost exclusively on stage and in the studio from 1974-1985 and even appears on various live versions of ‘Layla’!

In 2004, Eric’s ‘Blackie’ Stratocaster was sold for 850,000 USD at a Christie’s auction to support the Crossroads Centre and was the bid record for the world’s most expensive guitar! In November 2006, Fender announced a limited run of 275 ‘Blackie’ reissues by the Fender Custom Shop, identical to the original and was released on 24th November. All of which were sold out in hours! The original ‘Blackie’ was exhaustively examined and measured for the reproduction. The reproduction ‘Blackies’ was constructed by a team of master builders, with each of the various 275 produced being assigned to one master builder.

The current Fender Eric Clapton signature Stratocaster features an Alder body, maple neck and fretboard with a soft ‘V’ neck profile to replicate the original. The guitar has Vintage-style frets which are smaller than the usual Stratocaster set up, making the guitar nice and comfortable to play.  Three Noiseless Single Coil pickups are also featured on this model giving the instrument a precise, clear tone capable of delivering a great clean tone as well as a smooth, gritty overdrive.

The Eric Clapton signature also comes set up with a blocked tremolo system to replicate his original set up, this can also be changed of course to suit your desired trem style. Another unique feature with this guitar is the active mid boost feature which can be used with the tone pots. This feature can add a boost in the mid-tones when rolled on also producing a bit more drive in the tone, with a much cleaner tone when rolled off.

This is a must try guitar as it is much more versatile and is ideal for many styles of music! Currently in stock here at Rimmers Music in Bolton!
