Punk Is Not Dead

In August, Blackpool had the pleasure, as it does every year, of hosting the now biggest Punk Music Festival in the UK, Rebellion!

As a big Punk fan myself, it’s always amazing to see the town filled with hundreds of musicians and fans of the industry, all coming together and enjoying the electric atmosphere, (and maybe the odd beer).

Being one of the few music stores left in Blackpool, we had the honour of meeting some of the musicians before their sets at the festival, mostly buying spare strings and drumsticks, but also guitars, amps and the odd harmonica. We meet members of ‘The Blue Carpet Band’, ‘The Menzingers’, ‘The Idles’, ‘The Droogettes’ ‘Riders Of The Night’ and many more!

The festival seems to be getting more and more bands joining every year and it’s always a great sight to see proper live musicians making music they care about in this day and age. But as well as all the new blood joining the movement, we still get some of the original rockers that helped kick it all off decades ago, some of which I had the pleasure off seeing this year. Bands such as 999, U.K SUBS, Stiff Little Fingers and The Buzzcocks were all there headlining the 4-day festival with a special appearance from the Sex Pistols legend himself, Johnny Rotten (Lydon) performing with his band ‘Public Image Ltd’.

It was an absolutely incredible weekend for Punk Music and Live music in general and we cannot wait to see what new and returning faces we see next year in our little Blackpool store. Have a quick look at some of our pictures in store with a few pictures of the festival itself, helping us to prove the Punk is certainly not dead.

Here are some pictures of the band in our store!
